MALARDROTTNINGEN HOTEL, Stockholm reservation

This unique hotel is located in Stockholm's Old Town, aboard an elegant 240 ft yacht permanently docked at Riddarfjärden, by the island of Riddarholmen.

Built in 1924, the hotel includes a glassed-in restaurant on the fore deck, facing the city hall, and a bar in the former wheelhouse, overlooking Lake Mälaren. There is also an open dining terrace.

Upon arrival, guests enter the reception via a gangplank into a beautifully designed lobby with teak panelling, polished brass fittings and nautical décor. The lounge and TV room sits above the engine room, which can be viewed through the glass floors.

Cabins are decorated with dark timber finish, carpeting and portholes. Most guests will not even notice the gentle sway of the water as Lake Mälaren is quite calm. The cabins are situated on 3 decks and guests have access to the complimentary sauna.

Transport links to Mälardrottningen Yacht Hotel & Restaurant are excellent and the stunning yacht is only a short walk to Central Station or the charming restaurants and bars of the Old Town.

Built in 1924, the ship was built for Mr C.K.G Billings, a millionaire from New York and at that time the largest diesel driven yacht.

Barbara Hutton, the Woolworth heiress received it as a gift from her father on her 18th birthday and she then gave it to the English Royal Navy.

During the second world war the ship was anchored very shortly in Panama and later on moved to Norway where the ship was used as a training vessel.

following a reconstruction of the ship completed in 1982, Mälardrottningen was anchored by Riddarfjärden in the Old Town.
